Michael Stubbs

A/Prof Michael Stubbs is an oral medicine specialist, which is an area of dentistry associated with the diagnosis and treatment of oral disease and oro-facial pain. This includes oral mucosal diseases, temporomandibular disorders, as well as dental sleep medicine.

A/Prof Stubbs is also the academic lead at La Trobe School of Dentistry in the field of Oral pathology and oral medicine.

  • Senior Dental Consultant in the area of 'special needs patients' at both the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Adelaide Dental Hospital 1991 - 1998

  • Helped establish the special needs clinic, within the area of medically compromised patients. These areas included immunocompromised, oncology and bleeding disorders.

Numerous presentations in the areas of dentistry and Oral Medicine, which included topics in management and diagnosis of chronic/acute oro-facial pain; temporomandibular disorders; oral mucosal disease; special needs dentistry in particular the dental management of medically compromised patients; and dental sleep medicine.

Community and Professional Service

Developed an oral health program for the nursing homes within the South-Western Victoria region.  A/Prof. Stubbs also established rural service in the areas of Oral Medicine and Oro-Facial Pain.

Director of the Portland District Health Dental Service from 2000-2007.

Community based educational presentations in oral health for both the Australian Dental Association and the Australasian Oral Medicine society.
